I. Common Specifications and Dimension Parameters of Galvanized Coil

The specifications of galvanized coil are mainly determined by thickness, width, length, zinc coating weight, steel grade and surface treatment. Different specifications correspond to different application scenarios. Below are the most common specifications on the market, with customizable ranges noted to meet diverse demands.

(II) Zinc Coating Weight and Surface Treatment Specifications

Zinc coating weight directly determines the corrosion resistance of galvanized coil, while surface treatment affects appearance and downstream process compatibility. Common specifications:

  • Zinc coating weight: Standard 30–275g/m²; the most widely used are 80g/m², 120g/m² and 180g/m². Customizable for higher corrosion requirements (e.g., over 200g/m² for outdoor use). Heavier coating means longer service life and relatively higher cost.
  • Surface treatment: Anti-fingerprint, chromated, oiled, non-oiled. Oiled improves rust prevention; anti-fingerprint facilitates painting and film lamination; non-oiled is suitable for clean-demanding industries such as food and home appliances.
  • Spangle type: Normal spangle (NS), minimized spangle (MS), zero spangle (FS). Normal spangle has a bright appearance; zero spangle is eco-friendly and non-toxic, compliant with EU WEEE and RoHS directives for various aesthetic requirements.

(III) Common Steel Grades and Applications

Galvanized coils of different grades vary in strength and ductility, with distinct application scenarios. Mainstream grades:

  • DX51D, DX52D, DX53D: Moderate strength, good formability. Widely used for appliance housings, color coating substrates, ventilation ducts, etc. Cost-effective and most popular.
  • S220GD, S250GD, S280GD, S350GD, S550GD: High-strength grades. Used in structural building components, automotive reinforcements, highway guardrails and other high-load applications.
  • SGCC, SGHC, SGCH: General-purpose grades. Suitable for sheet metal fabrication, agricultural greenhouses, grain silos and other general applications with good compatibility and formability.
